About The Saguaro Music Project
We are an organization in the Phoenix metro area that helps to provide instruments to students who can't afford them by working with schools and parents. This program helps all students in middle and high school who want to play an instrument but may have circumstances where having access to an instrument is financially difficult. Every student deserves to have the means to participate in band and orchestra. We work with schools, students, and parents to make sure that these needs are filled. The Saguaro Music Project not only helps to fill this need, but also helps to maintain that instrument if repairs are needed. We also help promote music education outside of the classroom with after school lessons and other activities to further musical learning and participation.
The Benefits of Learning an Instrument
Students who learn to play an instrument develop their brains in ways that go beyond music, helping them in other aspects of their life. Music students have improved hand-eye coordination and are constantly using memory skills as they practice and perform with their instrument. This is helpful in math and other areas of academics and they usually do better on the SAT. Having an enjoyable class like music also keeps a student more interested in school and they are more likely to be successful in other aspects of their life.
Students who have learned to play an instrument usually handle anxiety better and have learned how to deal with their fears, giving them a higher sense of self-esteem. They also tend to be more emotionally developed with compassion towards others. Learning an instrument also helps students to think more creatively, helping them learn how to solve problems better.
Help Give Every Student Access to an Instrument
Donate Now!What Your Donations Do
The most effective way that we help provide instruments to students is to purchase them. As a 501(c)3 organization, your donations go a long way to help us buy these new instruments. We also have the cost of repairing and maintaining the instruments that we have to keep them working which helps keep students playing. We also have the cost of professional and other services that are necessary for us to operate. These includes things like maintaining this website, accounting services, and other things that are necessary to keep us running effectively.
How To Donate
Donations of money is the biggest way in which we help students have instruments. Without cash donations to buy and maintain instruments, we cannot do what we do.
